Overdone makeup and stiff hair? Gone. Bodies dripping in gaudy diamonds? Gone. A feeling of excess and over-the-top glamour? Thankfully gone. The new toned-down glamour seen on Kate Winslet, Evan Rachel Wood and Kate Beckinsale may be Hollywood's way to show it is sensitive to the difficult economic times. But it definitely looked modern.
