Good taste is fine, but fashion risk takers keep the red carpet from being too boringly perfect. In a sea of strapless glam gowns, Jennifer Lopez in gold Marchesa, Maggie Gyllenhaal in blue leopard print and Renee Zellweger in a sheer cold-shoulder stood out. Even Marisa Tomei, with her romantic blouse and pile of chains tried to stand out from the crowd.

Best Statement Maker: Maggie Gyllenhaal in blue leopard print Lanvin. She's got the height and attitude to carry it off.

Worst Statement Maker: Marisa Tomei's floppy-sleeved shirt and skirt combo was too much of a good thing for her tiny frame.
