Casual Daze: Back to the Basics for Women

Casual days have been around long enough that most women understand that wearing Daisy Mae shorts or halter tops to the office is a no-no.

But as seasons and styles change, office-worthy casual becomes harder to define.

Here are some guidelines on what to wear to be taken seriously in the workplace:

1. All of the check-points of a professional image stay the same, regardless of whether it's casual day or not. Grooming should be immaculate, clothes should be clean, pressed and fit well.

2. Always err on the side of conservative. If you're in doubt, wear the trend you love in small doses. For example, an allover lace top is too much for work, but a lace-trimmed camisole under a jacket is fine.

3. Less is more when it comes to makeup and hair. Jangling jewelry, flashy diamonds and purple shimmer eyeshadow aren't office ready.
