penelope cruzFrom Penelope Cruz' amazing Balmain gown to Marisa Tomei's intricately pleated dress, Oscar red carpet fashion featured some of the most lavish gowns we've seen in years. The bling may have been gone, but the detailing on the dresses (even Miley Cyrus' gown featured princess-worthy details) is breathtaking enough to shine without excessive jewelry. (1) Shirley Bass says:

Marisa’s dress was beautiful, but that’s all I could see. I kept trying to see Marisa’s overall shot, but the dress was the only thing my eyes could focus on.

Penelope’s dress was beautiful and I could take in the beauty in one shot, so I voted for Penelope.

(2) Sue says:

Amy Adams won best dressed. Hands down most beautiful gown I’ve ever seen. Simply breathtaking.

(3) Clairblue says:

Personally, I loved Halle Berry’s dress.

(4) Clairblue says:

Although she did not walk the red carpet, Halle Berry’s dress was lovely. Sarah Jessica Parker also wore a beautiful gown.

(5) Tallula says:

Penelope …..vintage suits you . That Balmain gown was the bomb…and you did it true justice.

February 23, 2009 at 2:28 pm
(6) Suzanne says:

I did not vote because this is a bad poll. It did not even list the best-dressed actress: Freida Pinto.
Clairblue, did you mean the pink/gray Pamella Roland gown?

(7) Geriojan says:

Where on you list of “Best Dressed” is Viola Davis. I think her gown is stunning. Maybe she isn’t an actress. If she and her dress were on your list, I’d vote for her.

February 23, 2009 at 2:54 pm
(8) David says:

I would like to vote for Freide Pinto
Why show us 15 gowns yet offer 7 to vote for?
Thanks
David

(9) Wendy says:

I have to agree with Suzanne above — Frieda Pinto’s dress was just stunning! You need to add her to your list.

(11) Tee says:

I agree with Amy Adams. She was just stunning.

(12) Lynithia says:

I agree with Sue. Amy Adam’s gown was breathtaking! Your picks don’t even begin to cover the best dressed. If you are going to have a pole you should at least cover ALL the gowns not just the ones you thought made the best dress list. This was NOT a fair and unparticial list. Boo

(13) Laura says:

I thought there so many beautiful gowns this year! It was hard for me to pick one. Agree that Viola Davis looked amazing (Geriojan, she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress). But I went with Anne Hathaway, who was the epitome of elegance.

(14) Bill says:

Natalie Portman – How could you omit her???

(15) Junecutie says:

I really loved Viola Davis’s gown. I also liked Amy Adams and Kate Winslet, but I could only vote for Kate so I did. But Viola’s gown was spectacular.

February 23, 2009 at 6:17 pm
(16) Sandyj says:

Hold please – how ’bout Taraji P Henson?! Absolute perfection! Appropriate for her nomination, gorgeous “statement” necklace and beautiful hair & make-up! No one came close to getting it ALL right!

February 23, 2009 at 10:30 pm
(17) jerjorju says:

Is Viola Davis an actress? She was nominated for best supporting actress in the movie Doubt starring Meryl Streep.

February 24, 2009 at 2:06 am
(20) bettdev says:

Kate Winslet looked matronly. Beyonce looked like a 6′ tall wasp. Miley Cyrus was a frosted Christmas tree. Marisa Tomei looked like she was wearing curtains from a French bed and breakfast. Angelina was classy, but boring.

You know WHO was the CLASSIEST? ? ?

Eva Marie Saint.
Hands down.

(21) betsy says:

I really thought Frieda Pinto looked best. That blue dress was truly stunning. Why isn’t she on the poll?

(22) Pat says:

In stead of flaunting their riches maybe they should donate some of that money to the typical middle Americans who are struggling so hard to just stay afloat let alone buy a beautiful gown like that. I don’t see it happening in my life. Eight MILLION dollars just to make a move. GET REAL

February 24, 2009 at 8:55 am
(23) Diane says:

I am pleased by the comments of other people who thought that Viola Davis’s gown was the most becoming. That was my opinion even though she did not rate amongst the “Best Dressed” list. My taste must not be too far off the mark if others agree with me. Comforting.

February 24, 2009 at 10:21 am
(24) Juli says:

both SJP and Penelope looked like they were on their way down the aisle for weddings. Wedding dresses are NOT a fashion statement unless one is getting married!

(25) Sasha Canadian says:

What did each gown cost (if an actress would have had to purchase it) ?

Some look very expensive — 10K +

February 24, 2009 at 5:43 pm
(26) Lisa says:

I think they do not have to pay the dress. For
free.

February 24, 2009 at 5:52 pm
(27) Catherine says:

I believe that no matter who is voted best dressed, there will always be extenuating differences. I think what should undoubtedly noteful is how Hollywood stars went back to being classy again. It had been a long time since it was seen. Thank goodness, someone got it in their heads that when you are invited to an eloquent, you dress eloquently for the occasion. In the past we had seen some really inappropriate and sloppy dressers.

(28) cynthia says:

You did not include Taraji P. Henson.

Angelina Jolie is by all means “THE” perfect dressed actress as per me.The Big and Bold Emerald stone Ring matched with an Emerald Cabs Earrings was a stunning combination. Angelina looked truly wow and her fashion statement was impressive !

Best dressed at Oscars was definately Jolie, even without 20m in diamonds. Still most beautiful actress out there on the red carpet. Halle Barry had a nice dress, but was not #1

Impotent gentlemen never experienced it so good. Viagra pioneered the oral cure for Impotence. And the baton, it seems, is transferred to Cialis. Between, Levitra also made its existence felt. But Cialis will be the potential drug which includes the entire world on its ft.
