Fashion's Future: It's the Economy, Stupid
I don't need a slew of egghead economists to tell me a recession is near: Marc hath spoken. For his Fall 2008 show last Friday, Marc Jacobs sent out oversized coats, prim dresses and slouchy pants, all in a subdued palette of murky colors. While Marc dubbed his collection "calm," I take it to mean that we'll need all those bulky layers to hide under while the economy grinds to a halt.Or maybe not. If Oscar de la Renta and his other endorsers of elegance have their way this fall we'll be wallowing in velvet and fur, oblivious to housing market busts and job losses. Other designers also pulled out the stops with enough fantasy -- like feathers and brocade -- to keep us distracted from broader money woes. (Photo Credit: Fernanda Calfalt/Getty Images)

Hi,
I saw a similar article on www.4fashionadvice.com
Saw the aritcle mentioned above. I have been so frustrated with the fashions this year. Slouchy and baggy. Is everyone overweight and trying to hide it?
Hate to say it, but Merrill Lynch had already mentioned that this country is currently in recession. Look up Merill Lynch to figure out what it is.
