What's everybody wearing?: Many people here wear tight pants, tight shirts. People wear a lot of colored clothes, as long as they aren't bright.
Biggest misconception about your city: People think that we dress in big clothes and big tee-shirts.
What trend doesn't work there?:Bright clothes don't work because people don't want attention.

Where: Caracas, Venezuela, (South America)

What's everybody wearing?: Women: Tight (and I really mean TIGHT, the girls here have a beautiful bodies, legs and most of them, butts) pants or capris, sandals of every type imaginable, every kind of top, everything that looks like the "Mariah Carey" look, with all the colors of the rainbow at your disposition: the sexier the better.
Men: "Urban-look" clothes (Calvin Klein or Prada style), sometimes black leather sandals, but most of the times closed shoes and boots. Opposite to the girls: just gray, beige, dark colors, and A LOT of black, so forget all bright colors (you just use it on weekends and/or at the beach)
City's style trademark:Yes!, a pair of Levi's, a T-Shirt, and a pair of sandals (for the girls) and sneakers or leather shoes (for the boys). But wearing it with style! And neatly! The people in Caracas are very fashion conscious, so if you look bad, believe me you will note it by the way everybody look at you.
Biggest misconception about your city: That we area a third world fashion city: that definitely we aren't. We have such a nice position on the South American continent (right in the top of it), that we receive all the latest trends from Europe, Asia and the Americas. So, out of fashion here? No way!
What trend doesn't work there?:We don't even like so much the US fashion, we think that normally they are a little missed in the fashion latest trends. Another thing is the "low budget tourist" look, its horrible! You have to look neat.

What's everybody wearing?: Versace, Iceberg, Sergio Valente, Dkny, Guess, Phat Farm, Enyce, Coogi -- anything expensive to fit into the urban scene -- Timberlands or the latest Nikes.
City's style trademark: N/A
Biggest misconception about your city: That it is all beach wear! We wear jeans when it is cold here!
What trend doesn't work there?:Bright colors and logo-heavy t-shirts and jeans.

Where: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

What's everybody wearing?:A great many people here are trying to find that little something that set's them apart. Lot's of colour, be it subtle, bright or earthy & a lot of contrasting colour, not just contrasting tones. Though I don't consider myself particularly bold or outgoing, deep earthy green slacks (almost khaki) contrasted with a bright red casual shirt can work here.
City's style trademark:The dynamic multicultural melting pot which inspired a passion for varied & international cuisine resulting in a plethora of little restaurants & street side cafes is working its spell on fashion as well. The trend is moving away from big department stores in favour of boutiques & specialty shops.
Biggest misconception about your city: If you came to Melbourne on a work day you could be forgiven for thinking Melbournian's all wear black, but that's office garb. Corporate Melbourne is boring conformity & who wants to spend hard earned dollars trying to impress an uninspiring employer. Come into the city on the weekend & see the difference.
What trend doesn't work there?:Only a prejudiced mind could answer that question here. In the inner north the trend is black & drab & pretty much Gothic, inner north-east its the European Mafia Set of dark suits, dark shirts & dark ties, due east it's all the known trends coloured by your age & socioeconomic background, south-east affluent it's anything that shows off the body beautiful & south bayside is a melting pot all its own of Bohemians, Beachcomers & Neo-affluent & Melbourne City is where they all mingle (mix).

Where: Salem, Mass. (A Boston suburb)
Submitted by: Rachel Harrison
What's everybody wearing?: The trendoids here are doing the whole leather or animal print pants and mixing it up with cool color choices. For example green and powerful pink or red and light blue. This season's style is more about color combinations than actual style of clothing (but I'm talking Boston here, not good 'ol Salem, Mass)
City's style trademark: I live in Salem, I guess the city is somewhat casual except for the college kids with their black flare pants and tight tops. (So OVER) or the witches with there black garb and silver jewelry. Otherwise, it's a good pair of blue jeans with cutie, thin, stylish sandals and a clean knit top or funky patterned (see through, animal print, leather) blouse (opened with a tank under).
Biggest misconception about your city: They think everyone's a witch. They think we all dress in ceremonial clothing with pentacles and robes. Whatever. People around the area think we're trashy sometimes. But hey, I like trashy. As long as your thin and pretty and your hair isn't stringy and your makeup isn't too much. Trashy is good and very 80's.
What trend doesn't work there?: As much as I'd like to pull of the NYC look here in Salem. It doesn't work. It's too much for the bars here. No leather or snakeskin pants except if your going into town. You can't get away with tube tops or anything too stylish, you'll just look silly. I wish we could though.

Where: Paris, France
Submitted by: Jane
What's everybody wearing?: Parisians only ever wear their conservative cigarette slim pants, black roll neck sweaters and loafers from Tods. Paris women are just so bourgeois and never break out of their classic "uniform" that they will wear for the rest of their lives.
City's style trademark: French women love denim jackets at all ages and big canvas totes that come free with a subscription to French ELLE magazine.
Biggest misconception about your city: It's funny because everyone thinks that Parisians dress so well. They don't! In fact they are so conservative that they only ever stick to beige, grey and black. It's amazingly boring.
What trend doesn't work there?: Anything that has a bit of colour and that is a little eccentric. The punk trend that is quite big now would never ever work here. Although the new lady/40's chic I think fits well.

Where: Southern California
Submitted by: CaliforniaGirl
What's everybody wearing?: Short shorts and skin tight tank tops. Capris and sarong skirts are also hot, as are tiny spaghetti straps, bare midriffs, and icy colors. Rings are also very big -- on toes, in navels, etc.
City's style trademark: Casual is the hallmark of So Cal. But it's casual "clean" (not casual sloppy), and often with a prominent label (CK, Tommy, etc.) Since people are very body-conscious here in Hollywood-land, there are lots of tiny form-fitting clothes in sheer fabrics and knits. The rule seems to be: at least one article of clothing must be so low-cut or form-fitting that drivers will veer off the road for a better look!
Biggest misconception about your city: That we wear bathing suits to the supermarket. (We don't. We send the maid to do the shopping.)
What trend doesn't work there?: Any clothes that are wool, fur, or heavy are definitely "out" due to the climate.

What's everybody wearing?
: Women: capri pants or long pants, T shirts. Flat or nearly flat heeled sandals or sneakers. Jackets. Swimwear. Men: No ties.
City's style trademark: Casual, but clean and brand new looking clothes.
Biggest misconception about your city: People think everyone here has blonde hair and a suntan from the climate. This is true of a minority only, most of whom bleach their hair and go to tanning clinics.
What trend doesn't work there?: Anything too clingy because of the humidity.
