The campaign, which has collected more than 1,000 handbags, backpacks, diaper bags and briefcases in its first year, enables women to turn in gently used handbags and –- for their kindness -- receive for $20 coupons good towards the purchase of a new handbags at FredaLA.com.
FredaLA.com began the campaign by donating work-appropriate handbags to residents of La Posada, part of New Economics For Women (“NEW”), a non-profit that helps families achieve increased job preparedness, asset building and better parenting skills.
La Posada is a two-year transitional home for teen mothers, and one of five homes under the auspices of NEW. For up to sixty single women with their children, La Posada offers on-site licensed day care, parenting, self-esteem and domestic violence prevention classes as well as job training programs.
To donate handbags: Mail new or used handbags to FredaLA (Attn.: La Posada) 9903 Santa Monica Blvd #349 Beverly Hills, CA 90212. There is no limit to the number of bags you may donated, however merchandise coupons codes are limited to 3 per household and may not be combined. One coupon can be used per order. Coupon codes are redeemable for merchandise only. All bags collected through the program will be donated to the female residents at La Posada and NEW.
