Tall Women and High Heels: What’s Appropriate for the Workplace?

It’s both a blessing and a curse that other people seem drawn to look at a tall woman’s shoes to gauge whether or not her height is supplemented by heels. Where shorter women might be able to play off a staggering heel with hardly a glance, a tall woman in a high heel will draw attention. When it comes to wearing heels at your workplace, start conservatively and stick to your organization’s basic dress code. If you work in a business-attire-only office, short kitten heels or conservative pumps are probably the way to go. And always remember the basic rule of thumb for choosing heeled shoes: the higher the heel, the more conservative the style; the lower the heel, the more daring the style.
