The Celebrity: In 1969, actress/singer Barbra Streisand, who was 20-something, caused a stir with the see-through black pants she wore to the Oscars. The Arnold Scaasi outfit was made of triple-layered tulle pants and double-layered tunic covered with clear sequins.

On one of Scaasi's first meetings with the young celebrity, he remembered seeing her in a huge poncho and floppy hat which hid her good figure and youth, according to his autobiography Women I Have Dressed (and Undressed!).

The Designer: For the scandalous Oscar pantsuit, Scaasi told Streisand: "Let's show people how young and cute you are. Let's forget about that elegant bit," according to the Los Angeles Times.

Fashion Verdict: Streisand was an impressionable young actress under the influence of a highly opinionated designer.
