When your dinner guests include Vogue editor Anna Wintour and fashion designer Vera Wang, you naturally want to kick up the fashion a notch. That's just what First Lady Michelle Obama did at the January 19 State Dinner to honor Chinese President Hu Jintao.

The lush flower-print red gown was designed by Alexander McQueen's former assistant (McQueen died in 2010)Sarah Burton who now helms the line.

The striking dress featured an asymmetrical neckline and was made of silk organza.
