See what happened on the 2008 Emmy Awards red carpet.
Following fashion's recent infatuation with jewel tones, Emmy fashion on the red carpet at the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards was popping with color.
Brightest Stars
The gemstone hues ranged from bright blue on
America Ferrera to purple on
Julia Louis-Dreyfus (in Narcisco Rodriguez).
Minnie Driver wore yellow Donna Karan and Felicity Huffman wore fuchsia David Meister gown. Red was also a strong color this year and looked best on
Heidi Klum in a smashing Dior and her own diamonds.
The Newlyweds
Eva Longoria was one of the few actresses in a short dress, hers a smashing silver paillette style from Kaufman Franco.
Kate Walsh went all red -- hair, dress, nails and lips -- in a Pamela Dennis dress and
Rebecca Romijn wore a pale pink vintage Guy Laroche gown.
Hot Mamas
Vanessa Williams (four kids!) pulled off a quirky mint feather dress from Kevan Hall while new mom (twins!) Marcia Cross looked extra svelte in her lightly beaded ivory dress with turquoise drop earrings. Another new mom
Jaime Pressly wore a beaded St. John beaded dress.
Just White
Although basic black is a perennial fave, it was white that really stood out against a sea of brights.
Katherine Heigl, who almost always looks amazing, carried off a strapless Zac Posen dress.
Judith Light and
Lisa Rinna also looked great in a strapless white gown.
The Trends
- Dangling diamond earrings
- Oversized rings
- Updos
- Red lips
- Bare looks, especially cleavage
- Satin
There's Always Next Time...
Teen cutie
Hayden Panettiere looked overwhelmed by her voluminous Marc Bouwer gown. And
Jenna Fischer's bowed dress? Maybe not her best look. But the worst look of the evening went to
Ellen Pompeo who ruined a perfectly good black Michael Kors gown with a teased bouffant.
