For a nice change of pace, the women were decked out in a dazzling variety of gowns and designers.
A few of the diverse looks: Natalie Portman chose a flowing, goddess-style Lanvin, Cate Blanchett looked regal in a yellow Valentino with burgundy accents and Catalina Sandino Moreno was in a hot Roberto Cavalli.
Some of the chicest stars were noticably absent from the red carpet, including Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Garner.
In their place was the much-missed Gwyneth Paltrow, who was back in a big way, in a sexy gown from pal Stella McCartney.
