It was the night of both the goddess and the housewife.

The 62nd Golden Globes featured actresses in every type of gathered, draped, tiered, ruffled, skin-tight, satiny and bejewelled dresses.

Hair was long and curly or put in a soft updo. Jewels were big -- long drop earrings, huge diamond stud earrings and brooches -- and in rich colors like amethyst and emerald.

The amiable Star Jones Reynolds of E!, who replaced caustic Joan and Melissa Rivers, dubbed the red carpet celebs "glamazons."

Nicole Kidman, the reigning queen of the red carpet, wore a rich blue satin dress with plunging back and peacock feather.

Jennifer Garner, also a red carpet success story, went with a bright red vintage Valentino with a pretty scarf front.
