Cher wore this barely-there Bob Mackie dress to receive her Best Actress award in 1988. The gutsy actress took plenty of knocks for wearing outrageous costumes, but her loyal fans loved her even more for it. Her longtime collaborator, designer Bob Mackie, also designed for the "Carol Burnett Show," producing not just gowns but also the costumes used for the bits (like the hysterical time where Carol plays Scarlett O'Hara from "Gone with the Wind" and creates a dress from the curtain!) CNN.com quotes the designer as saying of Cher: "She could wear anything. She was like a big Barbie doll."
