Black tights with evening wear really did seem like a fresh idea at first. After all, black tights already looked great with daytime dresses; legs looked sleek and stayed toasty in cold weather. Even designers like the elegant Carolina Herrera had her models parade around in black tights and formal dresses. But then black tights mania took hold and instead of staying edgy, it edged towards frumpy when paired with the wrong type of dressy look.
