Hair tricks
The super-talented Kristi Vaught (see more info about her salon) wanted an easy-to-keep cut for Kate. She started by adding layers to Kate's long blond hair, taking off about an inch or so in length. We didn't touch the color, but the great cut really makes it looks like she's had highlights!

Here's how Kristi did it:

Kate already had bangs that were growing out, so Kristi added more layers to graduate around the face.

Styling is easy: Start with a strong mousse. Section the hair off with a part from ear to ear (first row, below right)). Use a jumbo round brush to flip hair out from underneath as you're drying.

The top is also sectioned off (second row, below left) and blow-dried with the round brush going under and back. Kristi finished the look with TIGI "Bed Head" which gives hair a nice, chunky look (second row, below right).

Beauty brush-ups
Kate's a natural beauty, so Kristi applied a bit of makeup with a light touch. She dabbed on The Icing's swirled eyeshadows in blue tones and Maybelline Great Lash in Royal Blue. She finished off with a clear lipgloss by MAC.
