For the past 20 years the Council of Fashion Designers of America has honored the industry's brightest talent.

Giorgio Armani, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan and Miuccia Prada have all received CFDA awards through the years.

This year's event took place June 14 at Lincoln Center in New York City. Actress Sandra Bernhard emceed the show and recording artist Usher performed at the post-awards bash.

Calvin Klein, who received a Lifetime Achievement Award, was hit with a tofu pie on his way to the event. The pie was reportedly thrown in protest of his use of furs.

Here are the winners and nominees for the awards:

Womenswear designer of the year - Tom Ford
Nominees: Tom Ford for Yves St. Laurent, Helmut Lang, Calvin Klein

Menswear designer of the year - John Varvatos
Nominees: Richard Edwards (Richard Bengtsson and Edward Pavlick), Marc Jacobs, John Varvatos

Accessories designer of the year - Reed Krakoff
Nominees: Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Reed Krakoff for Coach

International Award - Nicolas Ghesquiere
Nominees: Nicolas Ghesquiere for Balenciaga, Karl Lagerfeld, Alexander McQueen

Perry Ellis Award for Womenswear - Bruce
Nominees: Bruce (Daphne Gutierrez and Nicole Noselli), Alice Roi, Imitation of Christ (Tara Subkoff and Matt Damhave)

Perry Ellis Award for Menswear - William Reid
Nominees: Sean John (Sean "Puffy" Combs), ORFI (Ana Gonzalez and Donald Hearn),William Reid

Perry Ellis Award for Accessories - Edmundo Castillo
Nominees: Edmundo Castillo, Jennifer Tash for Isabella Fiore, Andy Spade for Jack Spade
