Before You Buy Tween Clothes

Girls ages 8-to-12 -- tweens -- are not only fashion savvy, they usually know exactly what they want. Alexandra, age 9, shares her tips for parents and others who have a tween on a gift list.

Fitting in

Make sure her clothes are like her friends are wearing. Also, if you know she has a favorite singer, like Christina Aguilera or someone, find clothes that are similar.

Size it right

You can ask her for her size or take measurements. If you take measurements ask at the store to see what size she would wear.

Dont's

No light pink or bows! Not cool and too young.

On their own

Most girls would be pretty happy with a gift certificate or cash so we can just pick it out ourselves.
