Think army- inspired styles are dated and drab?

The chic bombers and day-to-night cargos of spring are anything but.

It's all about mixing strategic pieces here and there for an easy-glamour look and always adding a girly element to avoid an all-out masculine appearance.

  • Use sparingly: one-piece at a time or glam up a simple ensemb with tough-girl details like cargo pockets and grommets.
  • Pair satin drawstring-hem cargos with saucy stilettos and a simple tank.
  • Throw on a fitted Sgt. Pepper jacket over a flirty polka-dot skirt.

Fresh '50s

From prim pencil skirts to retro halters, the fifties are back in full-force.

But just because the ladylike looks are IT doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice looking saucy.

Up the glam factor with racy heels, glitzy jewels (try chandelier earrings), or a glimpse of skin.

  • Small doses are key for an understated glamour-girl style.
  • Add a Chanel-ish boucle jacket to a tiny tee and hipsters.
  • Jazz up a circle skirt with a racy camisole and kitten heels.

Country Club Chic

Bring out the bermudas and madras!

Twisted-preppy is HOT.

Trade in the chinos for slim trousers and shapeless shifts for shirtdresses.

Factor in a little mini (plaid, of course), eyelet oxfords, and shrunken blazers, and you have a perfectly neo-classic, prep school ready look.

  • Great worn everywhere; except the country club (When everyone is wearing Lilly, opt for something more sophisticated and less Biff-&-Muffie).
  • Wear a shrunken blazer, slim cropped pants, and a tiny tube as an updated suit .
  • Go classic in bright plaid shorts and Dr. Scholl’s – paired with a fitted tank.
