Casey's Fashion Fix: Bad Hair Days
Back to Teen Scene April 2001

It doesn't look good up, it doesn't look good down, doesn't look right curled, doesn't look right straight. Everyone has a bad hair some time or another, but no one ever has to know! When your hair is "not cooperating," you may feel like jumping back in the shower and starting over. You maybe be so frustrated you're in tears (Yeah that's me!). All you need to do is calm down a second, then read this:

1. One thing that really helps the dreaded bad hair days is a good haircut. One that looks good when you dry it naturally. You'll need to experiment with this. If it's long, go shorter, if it's short, let it grow. If you adore your hair, keep the cut!

2. Now that you've found a glamorous haircut, you need to find about three different ways that it looks good. Straight? Curled? Wavy? Braided? In a pony-tail? Just play around with ideas!

4. Always have a backup hair 'do. Whether it be a visor, sun hat, bandanna, hair clip, it doesn't matter. Just as long as it works, no matter what.

5. When I have a bad hair day, it's usually about five minutes before school that I do something about it, so it ended up looking like a mess. That was before I chopped it off, to above my shoulders, and can now let it dry naturally curly. I also like putting it in a ponytail with cute little clips, in two long ponytails, top up in a clip, or a funny little updo's.

The key is to stay calm, experiment, and love your hair, no matter what!
