New York

September 11, 2001

I came to New York to shoot Fashion Week, and instead left with images of tragedy and heroism.

Many About Guides have thoroughly covered the disaster ( "America Under Attack"), but I'd like to share what New York looked like immediately following the attack on the World Trade Center. (Left: The second tower as it begins to fall around 10:30 AM on September 11, 2001).

God bless America,

Cynthia Nellis

Below: The second tower of the World Trade Center as seen from midtown Manhattan at 10:29 a.m. Note: The times indicated are from time-stamps on the digital photos and synchronized with a picture taken of a nearby public clock. They may not match up with official records of when the attack/collapse occurred.
