Think you need to throw around tons of the green stuff to be chic and stylish?

You're wrong! Real style isn't about endless logos and big designers: it's about knowing what you love and what looks great on you!

Here are some tips for getting maximum bang for your wardrobe bucks:

1. You need to have backbone to your wardrobe, so start out with the basics: several solid-color tees and tanks, a couple of sweaters (either cardigans or pullovers), and some nice-fitting khakis, jeans, and skirts in flattering lengths and styles. Buy them at inexpensive stores like WalMart, or check the end-of-season sales at department stores for good quality!

2. Never buy something that goes with nothing else in your closet. You may never find that perfect piece to go with it or by the time you do find it you'll have outgrown it or the trend has officially ended (which has happened to me far too many times)! Learn to mix and match, and you'll have endless possiblities! Pick a couple of colors to be the "theme" of your closet. Know what styles work on you and which ones don't.

3.Try going to a store like Target and WalMart for trendy styles without all the logos - for alot less! If you like the department store feel, check out JC Penney and Sears. They have lots of trendy threads and tons of too-cute shoes!

4. Regularly check your favorite, more expensive stores for sales. Some are better than others, but you wouldn't believe what luck you could have! The sales usually come a couple months after the clothing is released. Also regularly check local outlet stores!

On trend
-Webbed belts -- preppy and military styles are best.
-Rimless, tinted shades
-Wedge sandals

5. Visit a thrift or vintage shop! Vintage clothing is clothing from past eras, usually in great condition and thrift, or consignment, is clothing from a couple of years ago, in okay condition. Some thrift shops exclusively carry well-known labels and designers! You can find quite the deal at shops like these, if you look hard enough!

6. Shoes can make or break an outfit, and they can add alot to a simple look. Instead of buying more and more clothes, buy several different styles of shoes, to update classics and add some style to an outfit! A cheap way to make a fun sandals is to buy a pair of cheap thongs (usually about $5) and decorate them with fun flowers or cute little ribbons. Very easy, very hip!

7. Add little accessories like handbags, jewelry, and hair pieces. Buy them in hip patterns and funky colors to add personality. And be sure they are really easy on the bank account (under $25) because some accessories are only around a couple of months!

8. Get together with friends and have a clothing swap. Trade anything you no longer like or have outgrown with something new (to you) and cool!

9. You can find tons of thrift shops and cool, but cheap clothing sites on the net! Here are a few to check out:
-GirlfriendsLA.com - Very trendy clothing and accessories. They have mini skirts, eighties-inspired rock looks, and olive green everything!
-Brat.com - Tees flowing with attitude (Like Goddess/Princess) and lots of basics.
-Cudas.com - Cheap fun and funky slides and thong sandals!
-GoJane.com - Trendy, glam threads like glittery skirts and cool tops for mostly under $30!
