Where would we be without denim?
Jeans, jackets and skirts are absolute musts for any modern girl's wardrobe.
For '02, denim continues to be a fashion staple. Here's how to wear it and what's hot:
Tips
- Head to toe denim is way too much! Go with just one piece at a time instead.
- The perfect fit is always the key to a good pair of jeans. You may have to try on a
dozen pair first, but consider buying two of anything that is just right (if you love it
and it looks great, you'll get your use out of it).
- Lower, good-sized back pockets flatter more than high, small, or non-existint pockets.
- A long, slim bootcut fit looks good on nearly everyone.
- Lowrise jeans are actually very flattering - and really trendy.
Top Five Looks
1. Distressed or antique-looking denim is
great! These jeans from Billabong have a great worn-in look to them and the antique belt
has fab detail and creamy camel color, which looks perfect with the coordinating
sandals.
2. Is there anything trendier than a
denim circle skirt? This funky look, by Coolwear, has the coolest colorful detail, and
worn with a matching lowcut halter, it'd be completely perfect for a summer day.
3. Unique denim, in vibrant stripes or
colors, is a must-do! Plain blue jeans get a playful twist with skinny rainbow stripes and
a fitted, lowrise cut, by Union Bay.
4. Look for gypsy-chic details like
embroidery, lace-trim, patches, or cute embossments, like floral leg-detail on these dark
denim bellbottoms, by Coolwear.
5. Unraveled hems are so hot, because they
look a little unfinished and careless. This lowrise denim mini, from Billabong, would look
great with everything from a little polo and flip flops to a studded black tee and boots,
as shown in the pic.
