Let me just say it: I loved Kate Middleton (now the Duchess of Cambridge) in her wedding dress. The Sarah Burton-designed gown was stunning. Stunning! And the evening gown that Kate Middleton wore later was just as gorgeous; as was the white (white?!) bridesmaid dress donned by the bride's sister, Pippa Middleton.
Although the house of Alexander McQueen is known for some pretty out-there styles (like armadillo shoes), new creative head Sarah Burton took what's special about the label and added her amazing feminine touch.
From the deep V to the hint of corsetry (a McQueen hallmark) the gown is sure to set wedding trends around the world. Read more about the gown itself from the About.com Weddings site.
Of course, if you are not a fashion insider, you may be wondering just who this Sarah Burton is. You may remember her as designing another news-making dress recently, Michelle Obama's dramatic red and black gown she wore to the state dinner.
Sarah Burton took over as head of design after Alexander McQueen committed suicide. She had already been with the design house for 14 years at the time. She is widely admired in fashion circles and has been lauded as carrying on the label's traditions, while softening them with her feminine touch. Read Sarah Burton's bio and learn more about her.
