OK, I'm going out on a limb here and guessing it's not so much the dress that was tight as the support undergarments 77-year-old Joan Collins had to wear underneath this form-fitting dress that made her swoon at the Vanity Fair Oscar party, as reported in the NYPost.
I've had my moments with all that elastic and spandex, haven't you? Stars like Gwyneth Paltrow have even been quoted as saying they wore double Spanx, so I'm wondering if that's what threw Joan for a sartorial loop. Whatever the case, it's good to hear she's healthy and it was just temporary.
Which gets me to thinking about all the other dangerous fashion out there. A few years back I broke my foot on a pair of (really cute) shoes and have heard of women suffering all sorts of injuries in the name of fashion. Have a story to share? (Photo Credit: Craig Barritt/Getty Images)

Back in the 70′s we didn’t call them “My killer high heels shoes” for nothing. I’m just happy I didn’t break my neck. Lucky!
Ah, yes, the good old 70s! I almost broke my ankle one night while disco dancing in the most amazing pair of platform shoes. I miss those days!
Back in 2003, after I broke up with my boyfriend, I bought new glasses, new shoes, new pants, new haircut … whole new look. Well, I was wearing my fancy new shoes, new pants and new glasses one sunny summer day when I was on my way to the doctor. I got off the back door of the bus … and fell to my knees. My new glasses were Progressives, and I improperly judged the distance from the last step off the bus to the curb. Moreover, I was wearing my ultra cute Dansko strappy clogs, so my feet had no support whatsoever when I fell. I walked to my doctor in incredible pain. I had an appointment with the podiatrist later that day, and she said I had sprained both ankles. Can you say “OW”?
@Edie: You poor thing! That had to hurt! Isn’t that such a “female” thing to do when there’s a break-up? Out with the old us, in with a whole new us….until we fall off the back of a bus. lol Hope all is better now.
