Winter Shorts: Hot or Not?

winter shortsIs it cool to beat the chill with shorts and tights? And what about dressy shorts?

Shorts have left the beach and made a beeline for the red carpet where they are popping up on starlets all over the globe.

Although I'm all for new looks, I think there should be an expiration date on this look (like probably not good for anyone over about 30) and a few exclusions (the denim shorts with tights look is just ridiculous.) On the other hand, I love things like leather or sequin shorts which are fun and young.

Whew, yet another look for the under-30-crowd! Couldn’t you, just for a change, show us something that would be ridiculous on anyone under 45? And I do not mean patterned polyester dresses, DVT stockings or orthopedic shoes!

The heck with shorts and tights being an “under 30″ trend…I loved it twenty years ago and will love it now!! I was literally searching the web to see if this style was any where near “acceptable” these days….it’s comfortable and cute! And, now that I am in my 40′s and feeling the “heat” of menopause around the corner – this is an absolute ideal option!!! I’m in!!!

I agree with Cynthia!

Last month, I attended a ballet performance wearing a black sweater, black tights, and black boots, with subtle black and gray plaid shorts. I think this look would work well for everyone.

And despite my petite size, I’m 45, so yes–the look is for EVERYONE!!

I concur. If it is that cold, wear pants. If it is hot, wear a short skirt. This reminds me of the lipstick on a pig comparison. It is going to be tacky no matter how much bling that you might add.
