Sometimes all it takes for me to lose focus is for designers to send something down the runway that I hate with a passion. Like high-waisted pants. Because, unlike leggings or skinny jeans which you can dress around, there are no fixes for high-waisted pants other than to be 6 feet tall and weigh 98 lbs. to pull them off.

It seems like almost every designer had a variation of the high-waisted pant in the spring collections, like Cynthia Rowley did (pictured, right.) And while I can forgive things like ridiculously short skirts, see-through blouses and other fashion follies that make the show more theatrical, those high-waisted pants may just drive me nuts. Because they are pretty much unwearable. Only Derek Lam (who makes great looking American sportswear) made me think twice and wonder how much Spanx it would take for me to pull off his terrific-looking denim pantsuits with high-waisted pants. Yes I totally agree! High-waisted pants are definitely not an “all can wear” fashion trend. I will never be seen in a pair thanks to my height
You said it. Those other pieces you mentioned will never be worn (usually) but some poor soul will more likely pick up a pair of those pants because they were worn on a runway.
see? Jessica Simpson is not fat, she was just ahead of the curve….no pun intended.
Jessica Simpson is sharp
Nonsense. I have a high and small waist and have had trouble all of my life with hip huggers which just emphasizes the part of me that will never be thin, and that is my hips.
We are all built different ways. What about women over 50, btw. You never offer up any fashion advice that actually makes sense and doesn’t make women over 50 look dowdy. Women over 50 do not look good in short sleeves but it doesn’t mean they all have to wear tunics and cover everything up.
LOVE high waisted pants! This is great news at long last!
I agree as well. They are so unflattering !!! They look good on those super tall super skinny models but definitely not on me. Yuck! Give me a pair of men’s Levis instead.
Most of us are just too short. Now if somehow I could get 4-5 extra inches just in the thigh area, I’d give it a try. Those pencil thin models look great in them. Has anyone suggested that Michelle Obama had anything to do with the new high waist, belt trend?
I totally agree with mali! I love the high-waisted look! I’ve got wide hips and a narrow waist and high-waisted pants/skirts/shorts, play up my curves in a great way. It works better on me than low waists and far better than all those waists in between that just make me look thick.
it is relly a nice show,if anyone like online shopping,i know a site http://www.koreanjapanclothing.com where sell pretty korean and Japanese fashion clothing, just go and have a look
I love high-waisted pants but at the same time its not for all body type at least not suit to my height.

Frankly, I don’t mind high-waisted pants at all.
They might not be for all body shapes but they look way more classy that the “lowriders” which show off the gut, the muffin top and, sometimes, half the crack (oh, horror!).
Don’t even get me started on leggings which, incidentally, look good only on slimmer women with nicely shaped athletic leggs and butts.
Unfortunately, leggings are way too often seen on women who are too heavy to pull that look off without making an impression as if they are going to burst out of them any minute.
Actually, most of you got it backwards: high waisted pants make a person, even a shorter one, look more leggy, as opposed to the lowriders that cut you way below the waistline thus making you look shorter and clunkier, unless you are 6 feet tall and “all legs”.
The worst, by far, pair of pants ever invented are those stupid-looking cut above the ankle capris that make you look like you’re wearing something you grew out of two years ago, or stole from your much shorter sister’s closed.
I am on a curvier side, about size 10 and, having just turned 51, I will welcome the high-waisted pants any day. Paired with a blouse and a proper jacket, they are a staple in a bussinesswoman’s closet, and far more classier and office-appropriate than leggings.
With great pleasure I read your blog. The information Buy metformin online is very interesting. My gratitude to you.
What’s the matter with high waisted pants??? not everyone like leggings and skinny jeans like you seem to. how bout this people should wear what they want to wear based on how it looks on them.
