Fall Trend: Colorblocking

By , About.com Guide   July 24, 2010

Follow me on:

colorblockingOne trend for fall that is a refreshing change from all the frills and ruffles of past seasons is the colorblocking trend. I like the strong graphic appeal of either bright or jewel tones for this trend.

At Lacoste (pictured, left) the colorblocking takes on an '80s feel with big chunks of brights, but the trend also takes on a sophisticated tone with Yeohlee's black-and-white poncho.

You can also get the colorblock look simply by wearing contrasting or complimentary colors together (say a black and teal or orange and brown.) (Photo Credit: Frazer Harrison/Getty Images)

I see this coming, but I don’t know how I feel about it. I think it’s interesting and suiting for fall, but the colors used are kind of ugly…

The other comments are funny.

I’m not sure I’m a fan of color blocking, I probably need to see better examples. Those loud swathes of color aren’t going to be that flattering on most women depending on their shape. Not to mention the high contract look totally detracts from a person’s face. Again, maybe I need to see more examples before making a final judgment.
