Thanks for the advice on buying boots…since this is all we can buy, shoes and accessories, this year it’s helpful to know exactly how to wear them. Ankle boots definately make yesterday’s fashions very today.
On Sept. 1st, 2009, a group of former premium jeans buying women decided to give up the habit of buying apparel for one year reagardless of the deals that retailers are offering. Yes you heard it right. 40 women, hailing from twelve different states, and one in the U.K. and one from Canada have bonded together on a blog with the single goal of giving up apparel purchases for one year. The blog is called The Great American Apparel Diet, http://www.thegreatamericanappareldiet.com. On the blog women share ideas, horror stories and tips on how to shop from your own closet without falling into frumpy land. The group is looking to grow the movement by allowing women to join up until Dec. 31st of 2009. The diet ends on August 31st, 2010 regardless of when you join. Most of the women started the “diet” on Sept. 1st 2009. All but a few are still on the wagon and enjoying the commarderie of like minded women who want to be more mindful of their spending.
One caveat. We can still buy footwear and accessories. Thank god, it helps us to stay in the game. Many of us have really begun to alter our old apparel and refresh them with scarves, jewelry and footwear.
