Countdown to Fashion Week: Rachel Zoe, 'I Die!'

Thursday September 4, 2008
rachel zoeTomorrow Fashion Week starts in New York, and for the past several years I've immersed myself in the fashion zone beforehand by reading about the likes of Ralph Lauren and Anna Wintour. This season I picked Rachel Zoe.

Although she's everywhere -- "Project Runway" as a guest judge, on her own reality show "The Rachel Zoe Project" -- I've never been a huge fan of her long print dresses or fur vests (I swear some of it looks like roadkill.) But she's such a powerful Hollywood stylist -- dressing the likes of Jennifer Garner, Nicole Richie and Demi Moore -- that I wanted to know more about her beyond the fact that she pushed the super-skinny, super-tanned celeb waif look.

So I watched the premiere of her reality show on Bravo called "The Rachel Zoe Project" and learned that a) she says "I die!" if she likes something (which makes Paris Hilton's "That's hot!" sound like a Mensa utterance) and b) her husband says they are in debt supposedly because she shops so much (so I guess she and I do have something in common).

Her book, Style A to Zoe: The Art of Fashion, Beauty & Everything Glamour is surprisingly good. It has lots of tips on how to live the glam life, even on a budget (oversized sunglasses and a deep tan are a good start, she says). But beyond the tips, you'll love the pics of Rachel Zoe with all of the beautiful people she has worked with and styled over the years. And who knows? I might even try some of her travel glam tips like wearing a eye mask on the plane. (Photo Credit: Amy Sussman/Getty Images)

Great Fashion Week overview, Cynthia.

I’ve been watching Rachel Zoe’s show whilst wasting away in bed with bronchitis this week ;) . I like watching show like hers to that I realize that I and my job are not as crazy as other people.

Plus her “red carpet moment” dresses are absolutely gorgeous. I find myself eyeing a dress, and saying: Yep. That’s for Debra Messing.

Do you know when the next two shows are scheduled, i.e. Fall 2009, which should take place next spring, and Spring 2010, which should take place in September 2009?
