R.I.P. Flip-Flops

Thursday April 10, 2008
Are flip-flips over? I just received a press release (from a so-called fashion expert) that says flip-flops are finished and we should all be wearing wedge sandals or gladiators with our swimsuit.

I was never a huge fan of cheap rubber flip-flops paired with something dressy, but I love flip-flops for casual wear. What else is so inexpensive, comfortable and universal? I can't even imagine flailing around in the sand wearing wedges (heels and swimsuits sound sexy in theory, but don't make much sense for real women). Flip flops are here to stay! I use them all year long. They are the best around the house shoe you can wear. This way you are not building up callous feet walking barefoot. I have a love hate relationship with shoes. I love the way shoes complete a style or look but I hate to wear them when I am relaxing at home or at the pool or at the beach. The answer is flip flops. I will alway wear them and there time will never be over for me.

Flip-flops (infradito in italian)are actually over. They were out last summer. Sandals, gladiators, clogs go fashion here in Italy. I’m not happy about it, I love flip-flops, but…
sad but true…

I only despise the tacky flip-flops. I don’t mind if people wear the nicer styles with casual wear in casual situations. Myself, I’m not a flip-flop girl… I love a more preppy look. But hey, wear what you want.

Please say it’s so! Flip-flops to the beach - fine. Flip-flops to a wedding - TACKY!!!!

When I saw a bunch of young women and men doing just that, I’d had enough of them. Some people’s feet are just gross.
