Red Carpet Dress Code Blues
You are so not alone if you agonize over what to wear for a special occasion. Even celebrities have trouble deciphering dress codes.
Believe it or not, singers Carrie Underwood (left in a ballgown) and Fergie (right in motorcycle boots) were on the same red carpet (for "Idol Gives Back") but looked like they were dressed for two entirely different events. California First Lady Maria Shriver showed up to the same event wearing a pantsuit and Miley Cyrus wore a tank top. Confused? It looks like they were, too.
Maybe a bit of brushing up on dressing for special occasions is called for. Zip through the quiz "Match the Dress to the Occasion" and see if you can peg what to wear for different occasions. (Photo Credits: Vince Bucci/Getty Images)

It’s a matter of personality I think and also Fergie is so confident she wears what she wants not what is expected of her.
I read an article in Vogue last year about how some women will tone down fashion. It gave the example of wearing a old jean jacket with at MiuMiu dress.
It was saying that women were afraid of looking like they tried to hard to be beautiful. Let’s face it we do try hard to be beautiful. So why work extra hard to try to look that all th work come so easily we must dirty it down.
Maybe the same goes for the red carpet. How many times have we listen to the style or fashion critics claim someone “look” was forced or 2 perfect.
So I guess it takes skill to look red carpet ready all the time so the walking on the red carpet is just like walking to the car after seeing a movie. My personal taste says its the red carpet you should look like you took the time to consider what to wear. What color looks the best what jewlery looks the best, etc so that the best is presented on the red carpet. Anyone can put on their husband white dress shirt and a formal black skirt and look fab. Of course not just anyone gets to walk on the red carpet. Therefore those who do should take the time to look like they belong there.
