Fashion Week Day 1: It's All About "Project Runway"

Saturday February 2, 2008
nina garciaAs I sloshed up the steps to the tents at Bryant Park, Nina Garcia from "Project Runway" came right up beside me -- looking fresh, perfect, dry (no coat or umbrella, no clue how she managed that) and adorable.

She was just the first in a stream of fashionistas (Rachel Zoe, in a gray sheer dress and tights watching Erin Fetherston's collection intently) and celebrities (Anne Hathaway, also at Erin Fetherston; the guy who won Season One on "Project Runway") that I saw throughout the day.

After Erin Fetherston's show -- which was packed with a very hip-looking crowd -- some of us trekked down to Victorya Hong's show (she's the one that just got kicked off "Project Runway").

Earlier in the day, celebs like Liza Minelli (Liza!) and Joss Stone walked the runway for Heart Truth's Red Dress collection which helps raise awareness of heart disease in women.

It's too early to see any clear trends emerge, but the fashion crowd is a mix of everything: short dresses, tights, ankle boots, furs, boho looks)
