Oscar Fashion: Get Ready for the New Glamour

Look for Oscar fashion on March 5 to be a showcase of the New Glamour: hair in chic updos, gowns with pretty details (ruffles, tiers, touches of sparkle)and bling in the form of earrings or bracelets (but not necklaces). The reigning queen of the New Glamour is Scarlett Johansson (photo left, at the 76th Annual Academy Awards, © A.M.P.A.S.) who wowed ‘em at the Golden Globes in a flashy red Valentino, red lips and luxurious blonde hair.
It’s all very grown-up and pretty, but not in the fake, hard-edged way that starlets like Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson interpret glamour (with spray-on tans and hair extensions). How big is the New Glamour? Even former celebrity rebels are coming over to the softer side: Alanis Morissette is a platinum blonde, Pink wore a girly Monique Lhuillier for her wedding and Avril Lavigne just attended the couture shows in Paris.
